Comfortably carry a young puppy on your summer hikes with the help of a Kurgo backpack carrier from A Pet’s Life.

We are all itching to travel, and there’s hope that this summer we’ll finally be able to visit loved-ones and explore BC destinations again.

“If you have a pet, the time to make preparations is now, so you have everything you need before you hit the road,” says Chad McMillan, owner of A Pet’s Life.

Feather, fur or fin, the knowledgable staff at A Pet’s Life can get you equipped.

Buckle up, Rover

“Most of us are used to letting dogs roam free in the back seat, but these days there are more and more good reasons to have pets restrained in the car,” Chad says.

It’s safer for your pet, and safer for you. Nervous or excited dogs can distract you while you’re driving, and in the event of a crash your poor pup is likely to get hurt.

Crates are a good option, and may come in handy once you reach the hotel or campsite. A Pet’s Life also has in-car barriers to keep your dog and all its fur in the back of the SUV. If you don’t want to deprive your dog the delight of sticking their head out the window, try a dog seatbelt. They’re not expensive, and keep your pooch safe while hanging with the rest of the family. Don’t forget the buckle barrier, so they don’t accidentally unbuckle the seatbelt with a paw.

Cat carriers and leashes

You may not take your cat for walks at home (or maybe you do, the staff at A Pet’s Life think you’re cool either way!) but a leash is a nice thing to have when you’re on the road. Pick up a comfortable harness or collar so Fluffy is easier to wrangle at the highway rest stop, and a leash if you want to bring your cat to the RV site.

“We also have wide selection of bags and backpacks if you need to carry your pet on a flight, or even a backcountry hike,” Chad says.

Automatic feeders and collapsable food bowls

In a pinch, you can always use an old lunch container or even your hand to feed your pet on the road, but after a few spills most pet owners choose to pack a dedicated collapsable travel bowl for food and water.

Leaving some pets at home? Set up an automatic fish feeder so the fish won’t go hungry, and you won’t worry.
