The painted pianos scattered through Oak Bay have all found homes for the winter, thanks to six families that answered the call of Oak Bay Art Laureate Barbara Adams.

“What we are trying to do is reuse the pianos and have new ones every two years,” Adams says of the need for the winter abodes.

The reuse next year would offer a small cost savings for the painted piano program.

“A big thank you to the six families from the community who stepped up to house the pianos for the winter. We are very grateful!” says Adams, who spearheads the painted piano project every year.

James Movers stepped in as a sponsor, delivering the pianos to their new homes where they can be used and enjoyed over the winter before being picked up again in the spring.

The six pianos this year were painted by Gillian Redwood, Robert Amos, Jennifer McIntyre, Christine Gollner, Sherry Tompalski, and Senior Art Students at St. Michaels University School were installed at Loon Bay Park, Estevan Village, McNeill Bay, Turkey Head Walkway, Willows Beach, and Oak Bay Village during Arts and Culture Fortnight.
