Oak Bay arts laureate Barbara Adams looks to home a handful of pianos.

The musical art dotting the Oak Bay landscape is slated for removal this week, need homes.

“We’ve given pianos to most of the charities and I don’t want to destroy them or paint over them,” says Adams.

That means she hopes someone can take home artwork painted by Gillian Redwood, Jennifer McIntyre, Christine Gollner, Sherry Tompalski, and Senior Art Students at St. Michaels University School for the winter.

Adams hopes someone in the community could use it over the winter, in a recreation or music room, potentially store one or more in a garage or other hideaway.

“We’ll deliver them and we’ll pick them up in the spring,” Adams says.

The reuse next year would offer a small cost savings to the painted piano program.

“What we are trying to do is reuse the pianos and have new ones every two years,” she says.

Of course she’s also open to a purchase for an offer of $1,000 or beyond.

With no auction this year, as has happened in previous years, Adams still plans to host a season finish party – still in the planning stages.

Anyone interested in purchasing or housing a piano this fall and winter can email barbaraadams@shaw.ca.
