Piano auction adds to arts coffers

The pianos were among three that dotted the landscape this summer as the district launched its first public art campaign.

A pair of pianos put about $1,700 back into the Oak Bay arts laureate budget.

Bloom Box by Crystal Heath, the instrument that spent the summer at Willows Beach and Imagine by Deryk Houston that was placed at Oliver and Beach Drive were auctioned last Friday (Oct. 24) at the Oak Bay Beach Hotel.

The pianos were among three that dotted the landscape this summer as the district launched its first public art campaign.

The third, Sub Quercu Felicitas, bearing the Oak Bay crest and motto and painted by Robert Amos, is on display in the municipal hall foyer, 2167 Oak Bay Ave.
