Ms. Williams, thank you for your letter on mosquitoes. (Opinion, Oak Bay News May 23)

I have a suggestion: we are told that both swallows and bats require a steady diet of these little beasts (among others), on a daily basis – so why not encourage them? Perhaps if we could put up the appropriate sort of nesting for each, at the appropriate places (Henderson Park, for example) to encourage more of them.

Perhaps there would be less of need for the fabled “miracle cures” of, Monsanto, for example.

I mean, if we are going to go the entirely dubious route of banning plastic bags, building unnecessary sewage plants etc., in the name of“climate change” or whatever, why not go the extra – and, comparatively inexpensive route, of providing habitats for the very creatures destined to decimate the very creatures we denigrate?

Worth a try…no?
