Letter: Council makes right call regarding deer polling

Council needs to be sure that all sides are heard in deer debate

Re: Council’s deer decision is disappointing, Oak Bay News, April 1

I have no doubt that the Urban Wildlife Stewardship Society is disappointed. After all, despite assertion otherwise, they are associated with the anti-cull lobby.

People need to know when they are polled that they can speak freely and openly without fear of being judged.  Otherwise the survey cannot be seen to be unbiased.

I think that council acted wisely and responsibly when they decided to hire an independent survey.

The UWSS is perfectly well able to present a brief and should, but council needs to be sure that all sides are heard.
