A fence and onsite security camera didn’t stop a thief from stealing bagfuls of goods from a locked area in Oak Bay.

Officers were called to the 1700-block of Elgin Road on Feb. 10 around 3 p.m. for a break and enter.

Someone climbed the fence and entered several vehicles and a building in the compound, according to an Oak Bay Police Department release. The suspect was seen on security footage leaving the area with two bags. Several tools were reported stolen.

The same day officers received a report of a break and enter in the 3000-block of Finnerty Road.

The caller reported an insecure window in a building where three desktop computers, a server, and a Polycom speaker were stolen.

Credit cards stolen, some used

A pair of vehicle break-ins resulted in stolen wallets containing valuable cards.

On Feb. 6 at noon, the Oak Bay Police Department was called for a theft from a vehicle in the 2100-block of Hall Street.

The vehicle was entered the night before and a wallet containing about $200 in cash, as well as bank and credit cards, was stolen. The credit cards were later used in Victoria.

A few days later, on Feb. 11, a second vehicle was discovered broken into, in the 600-block of St. Patrick Street. A wallet – containing several bank and credit cards – was stolen. The owner cancelled the cards before they could be used. It was among the 73 calls for service to Oak Bay Police Department for the week of Feb. 6 to 12.
