For the full two minutes the wind rippling through the oaks was the only sound at the cenotaph on Beach Drive in Oak Bay.

This despite the hundreds in attendance during the annual Remembrance Day service organized by the Oak Bay Police Department and featuring an Oak Bay Fire Department honour guard.

Rev. (Lieutenant CAF) Angela Wood, Chaplain at UVic, Rev. Michelle Slater of Oak Bay United Church and Rev. David Dawson, Emmanuel Baptist Church each held roles in the ceremony that included many wreaths laid in memory and honour of fallen soldiers.
