Hundreds will gather in Uplands Park this Saturday to honour Canada’s members of the armed forces who have died in the line of duty. The ceremony at the Oak Bay Memorial Cenotaph in the 2800 block of Beach Dr will begin at 10:55 a.m.
The cenotaph, built in 1948, was constructed on behalf of the 97 men and one woman from Oak Bay who lost their lives in the Second World War.
The Oak Bay Police Department would like to remind attendees that Beach Drive will be closed to through traffic on Remembrance Day between Dorset Road to the South and Rutland Road to the North from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
There is only limited parking in the Cattle Point parking area, with priority given to those with physical impairments and veterans. Other attendees are encouraged to park outside of this area and walk in.
Oak Bay Parks has been working hard to prepare the cenotaph grounds for the annual ceremony.
