Attempt to defraud

An Oak Bay resident contacted police on Aug. 16 after received a phone call, supposedly from the United States, asking if they wanted to cancel a salon appointment. The resident was asked for their name and number before they became suspicious and ended the call. Oak Bay police say the concern is that if the person’s voice is recorded giving their name and phone number, it can be used in some way to defraud them. Police recommend not giving any information over the phone unless it is to someone you know, or are expecting.

Suspicious man

Police were called to the intersection of Windsor Road and Hampshire Road on Aug.18 for a report of a suspicious man. When police arrived, they found a man who was exhibiting signs of recent drug use. The male was transported to hospital to confirm his wellbeing.

Mischief to property

Police were called to the 2000-block of Cedar Hill Cross Road on Aug. 19 for a report of mischief to property. Some time overnight, the complainant heard a loud bang. In the morning, they discovered the window to the den had been smashed. A white plastic bucket that does not belong to the complainant was found outside.

Local constable attends regimental funeral in Fredericton

Oak Bay Const. Manuel Montero attended the funeral in Fredericton, New Brunswick, for the two recently slain police officers.
