A rear-end collision turned into a 9-1-1 call Friday afternoon. Oak Bay police were called around 3 p.m. to Oak Bay Avenue at Hampshire Road after the driver of the Chrysler ran into the rear of the BMW it was behind. The male driver and his 17 year old passenger in the Chrysler exited their car and confronted the driver of the BMW they had just struck, say police. Words were exchanged and the female passenger of the Chrysler kicked the door of the BMW, causing more damage. The driver of the Chrysler was issued a ticket for following too closely and the teen passenger is being investigated for Mischief to Property Under $5,000 for causing further damage to the BMW.
Oak flooring swiped
On May 22 Oak Bay Police received a complaint of theft of building materials from a home under construction in Oak Bay. Approximately 1,100 square feet of eight-foot white oak flooring was stolen from a home while the wood sat acclimating prior to install.

Vehicle impounded in marina call
Shortly after 7 p.m. on May 26, Oak Bay police were called to the parking lot of the Oak Bay Marina after a report of a woman who appeared to be drunk trying to get in her car. The woman was investigated for impaired driving and subsequently issued a 90-day driving prohibition. Her vehicle was also impounded for 30 days.
Speed stop nets vehicle impound
Oak Bay police pulled over a truck that appeared speeding on May 27 shortly after 6 a.m. on Henderson Road. The driver was found to be unlicensed and prohibited from driving in B.C. The driver was issued an appearance notice for court and his vehicle was towed.
Cash missing
On May 22 a local resident reported an envelope containing over $300 was misplaced or lost at Willows Beach or at a business on Hampshire Road. Should you come across any found money or items of value believed to be lost or stolen, please contact your local police agency.
