Tony Joe of Re/Max Camosun Oak Bay says the best thing about bringing together a community event is “getting people out, kids and families.”
He expects the third annual Easter event could surpass the usual 600-plus people who hunt for eggs and enjoy activities in the park behind municipal hall.
“They’ve been great community events,” said Joe. “It brings hundreds of people down here.”
Activities include face painting, cookies and cupcakes, photos with the Easter Bunny and an Oak Bay firetruck on display alongside children’s Easter egg hunts divvied up into age categories. There will also be a collection for The Mustard Seed Foundation.
“We’ll be collecting non-perishable food and cash donations as well. In the past people have been really generous,” Joe said.
Organizers confirm the Estevan village event that would have been the 12th annual Easter egg hunt in Lokier Park will not run this year. The Providence Community Church event in Windsor Park is also cancelled this year as they shift focus to other community events.
The third annual Easter eggstravaganza runs Saturday, April 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the park behind municipal hall.
“We will be prepared and ready,” Joe said. “We’ll be here rain or shine.”
