A deer is on the mend after Oak Bay firefighters took their training to the street Monday (May 15) morning.

A crew from the Oak Bay Fire Department used an airbag extrication to free a deer pinned under a vehicle after it was hit on Dufferin Avenue.

The deer was freed and moved to a shaded area, Oak Bay Fire said in a social media post. A wildlife officer was called, and firefighters were told the deer got up and ran off after a rest.
