Items stolen from vehicle, man detained for marijuana

Drugged man detained

On Sept. 17, Oak Bay Police were called to south Oak Bay for a report of a confused male. On arrival, police met with a young male who had ingested an unknown substance that seemed responsible for his mental state. He was taken to hospital.

Items stolen in break and enter

The owners of an apartment complex in central Oak Bay notified Oak Bay police on Sept. 17 that one or more strangers had entered their unit and stole a guitar and a vacuum cleaner. The items were later recovered by the Saanich Police Department.

Driver detained for smoking marijuana

During a routine patrol on the early morning of Sept. 19 around 1 a.m., Oak Bay police checked on a vehicle parked at the side of the road in north Oak Bay, finding the owner of the vehicle had just finished smoking marijuana. Police seized a small quantity of cannabis and the owner took a cab home. No charges are anticipated.

Wallet, iPad, stolen from vehicle

An iPad and a wallet was stolen from a parked vehicle sometime over night on Sept. 19 in Central Oak Bay. Police again remind residents to not leave any items, precious or not, in their vehicles, and ensure the vehicles are locked and secured.

Dinghy stolen from local marina

Oak Bay police are investigating after a dinghy was stolen from a local marina sometime between Sept. 17 and 21.

Vandals graffiti private home

On Sept. 24, police responded to south Oak Bay for a report of mischief. Sometime over the weekend, an individual or individuals sprayed graffiti at several locations including two garage doors.

Officers remembered

Several members of the Oak Bay Police Department attended the Police Memorial service downtown, on Sunday, Sept. 24. The event commemorates police officers who have been killed in the line of duty.
