A seven-cent-a-litre hike in the price of gas last week left motorists reeling.

As of last Thursday the cost of regular fuel sat at $1.239 per litre, after starting the year at about $1.09 around the Capital Region.

It’s not the highest price ever for gas here, however. The price of regular fuel peaked at more than $1.50 per litre in the summer of 2008.
