Fire crews from Oak Bay, Saanich and Victoria battled a roof fire this afternoon in the 600 block of Beach Drive.
By 4 p.m. crews were stamping out the last of the fire that penetrated the roof of the home.
The fire started on the second floor of the unoccupied home and burned through the ceiling making its way to the third floor, said Assistant Fire Chief Gord Marshall, Oak Bay Fire Department.
The attic was “full of combustibles,” he said, and wanted to spread and was being sealed by currents from the water.
He credits help of Saanich and Victoria fire departments as well as the resident who called in the fire.
