In addition to granting early approval to capital works projects, council released some tentative dates regarding the 2019 budget. Strategic planning sessions on asset management, housing, and new initiatives will take place from the end of January to mid February, leading to a budget open house in the end of March.

Council also directed staff to look into the possibility of expanding advanced mail ballot voting for municipal elections. Mayor Kevin Murdoch sponsored the motion, reasoning that he heard concerns from residents that the advanced voting period may not be long enough for everyone.

Council will sit again Jan. 28.
