Busy week for Oak Bay police includes youths drinking and putting down a deer

June 18

The police received a report of several youths on the roof of the Kiwanis Tea Room at Willows Beach. The youths were identified and one with an open beer was issued a violation ticket for consuming liquor in a public place.

Received a report of a stolen bicycle from Oak Bay High School. The bicycle was locked up over the weekend in the bike rack. The bicycle is described as an older blue Brodie mountain bicycle with white lettering and black handles.

The Oak Bay Police responded to an intoxicated male at the Oak Bay Marina. The male was located at the front door or the premise. He was cooperative, however he was transported to the Victoria Sobering Centre for the night.

June 19

A bicycle was stolen from an unlocked garage in the 3000 block of Wessex Close. The bicycle was a women’s light blue, 16 speed Norco Storm Mountain bike valued around $800.

The Oak Bay police received another report of a stolen bicycle in the 1200 block of Hampshire Road. The suspect stole the bicycle that was placed under a deck. The bicycle is described as a women’s black Felt (model i5800) hybrid bike valued at $1,500.

June 21

Oak Bay police received a report of graffiti at a construction site in the 1600 block of Yale Street. The suspect entered an unoccupied house under construction and tagged the stairs, some of the lumber on the upper floor and a portable toilet.

Police members were dispatched to attend an injured seal pup at McNeil Bay at the rocky outcrop near Sunny Lane. The Marine Mammal Rescue were contacted and they requested digital pictures and a video of the seal pup. After reviewing the video and the pictures they determined that the seal pup required medical attention. Police members transported the pup to the Victoria Veterinary Clinic for treatment.

June 22

Received a report of graffiti at another construction site in the 1700 block of Beach Drive. The culprit tagged several areas of the concrete foundation located on the lower floor of the site.

June 23

While on routine foot patrols, police members noted several graffiti tags behind a business building in the 2000 block of Oak Bay Avenue. A suspect spray painted a glass door and the back wall of the building.

A local resident contacted the police regarding an injured deer on the beach of Loon Bay. The deer had sustained a significant head injury and was dispatched at the scene and removed by Oak Bay Public Works.
