Vancouver Police say that the child at the centre of Monday night’s Amber Alert has been found, and his mother arrested, near Calgary.

The child is receiving medical attention.

The department first issued the alert around 11:20 p.m. Sept. 19 when a three-year-old boy went missing from the BC Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. His mother was listed as the suspect.

In a GoFundMe campaign posted four days ago, a woman who appears to be the boy’s mother, but who goes by a different name, alleges that her son fell ill and was taken to Surrey Memorial Hospital after having a seizure, before being put under what she described as mandatory observation and treatment out of concern for possible meningitis.

At the time of the Amber Alert, police said the boy had been taken from the hospital 11 hours earlier and that they were concerned for his health and safety. They did not specify what the boy was being treated for.
