The skaters should be all warmed up when the spring Stars on Ice tour wraps in Victoria this May.

Kurt Browning, a staple of Stars on Ice since its debut in 1991 and retired from performance last year, takes the reins as the director and choreographer for this production of Canada’s premier figure skating show.

“I’m going to be a part of the Stars on Ice tour in 2024, but without skates on,” Browning says in a promotional video. “I’m going to choreograph and I’m going to have a blast. It’s going to be a new relationship I’m starting with Stars on Ice so I hope you come and see the show I’m creating.”

Other well-known Canadian athletes in the show include Elvis Stojko, Patrick Chan, Keegan Messing, Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, Madeline Schizas, Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps and four-time Japanese champion Satoko Miyahara as well as five-time Belgian champion Loena Hendrickx.

Stojko is a two-time Olympic silver medalist, three-time world champion and seven-time Canadian champion. Chan has Olympic gold and silver to his name and is a three-time world champion and 10-time national champion.

Two-time world medalists and reigning three-time Canadian dance champions Gilles and Poirier take on the tour immediately after competing at the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal.

The spring tour hits 12 cities starting in Halifax on April 25 and finishing in Victoria on May 16.
