Workshop exploring impact of dementia

One in three Greater Victorians knows someone affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.

That statistic, from the non-profit Alzheimer Society of B.C., is one of the reasons behind a free workshop to be offered by the society on Saturday (Jan. 22), called Understanding Dementia.

In two hours, participants will receive basic information on dementia and the impact it has on the individual, caregivers, families and the community, as well as an overview of the progression of Alzheimer’s disease.

The workshop, for anyone interested in Alzheimer’s disease and related dementia, runs from 10 a.m. to noon at Yakimovich Wellness Centre, 1454 Hillside Ave.
