United Way helps young parents program

A mobile program that provides self-directed support for young parents is getting a boost from the United Way of Greater Victoria.

The Cridge Centre for the Family’s Young Parent Outreach program has received a $7,000 grant to accommodate 10 more people, bringing the number of clients it can support to 36.

The outreach program was created last July when the Cridge’s young parent day care at Victoria High School ran out of funding.

The United Way annually makes donations to community groups, and the young parent program met its criteria for a new or expanding program.
