Target Players explore dementia issues

Saturday presentation brings I’m Still Here to local church

This Saturday, Target Theatre performs I’m Still Here, a 45-minute play written to diminish unnecessary suffering due to misunderstanding and stigma about persons suffering from dementia.

The play was specifically written for for Target Theatre, a company of mature actors – many from Oak Bay – who provide a voice for the concerns of seniors.

Target uses theatre to address seniors’ issues because theatre stimulates and moves people in a way that is different from ideas learned through lectures or books.

Following the play, the audience will have a chance to hear from the actors and ask questions about the impact of dementia.

After refreshments, a panel of experts discuss dementia with a question and answer session following.

I’m Still Here runs Jan. 14 at 2:30 p.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 3787 Cedar Hill Rd.

The church is handicapped accessible and parking is available in the Lutheran Church lot on Cedar Hill Road and at St. Luke’s Anglican Church on Cedar hill Cross Road.

Admission is by donation with proceeds to the Shelbourne Community Kitchen.
