Friday, March 22: In East Sooke Regional Park a CRD naturalist will lead the Bear Necessities Guided Walk, teaching the history and behaviour of the black bear. The walk is for children aged 5+ and the muster point is Aylard Farm parking lot off Beecher Bay Road.

The walk is from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Anyone in Saanich who fancies taking the kids (5+) for a walk can head to the Mystery Creature Guided Walk at Mount Work Regional Park. The event is 1 to 2:30 p.m, Sunday, March 24 and starts at Durrance Lake parking lot, off Willis Point Road. On the walk, a CRD naturalist will impart facts and knowledge to do with the Durrance Lake ecosystem. Additionally, participants will be asked to solve riddles, to find clues hidden along the trail, with the aim of identifying a mystery creature.

Those near Langford with an interest in creepy-crawlies can go on the Bug Buddies Guided Walk on Tuesday, March 26 from 10 to 11 a.m. at Mill Hill Regional Park. Take your preschooler (under 5s) along to explore the world of insects. A CRD naturalist will be on hand to lead the bug safari, in the hope of finding grasshoppers, wood bugs and other wriggly creatures. The CRD says there is no fee for this walk but you must pre-register by March 20 as space is limited.
