It’s beginning to look like Christmas and to celebrate, the Rotary Club of Oak Bay is selling poinsettias to raise funds for its community and international projects.
Poinsettias are available in four colours and in 6-inch pots ($12), 8-inch pots ($22), and 10-inch pots ($30). Orders will be taken until this Friday, Nov. 20 for delivery Dec. 2.
The club has supported many projects within Greater Victoria, including the Carnarvon water park and the Oak Bay High youth centre locally, plus literacy projects at George Jay, MacAulay and Quadra Street elementary schools and the Victoria Hospitals Foundation.
Internationally the club supports youth-related projects in Malawi and Mexico, a training program for orphans in Rwanda, washrooms for villages in India, dental treatment and hygiene for poor and needy in Guatemala, and rotaplast (plastic surgery for children) in Honduras.
Each year Rotarians from the Rotary Club of Oak Bay donate their time, expertise and travel and living expenses to assist in these countries.
