Rogue flowers on the loose

Every summer, Oak Bay municipal horticulturalist Dan Bell creates a unique flowering structure at major corners in Oak Bay.

(In recent years there’s been the flower “bed” and the “bug,” a full-size VW made of red impatiens at the corner of Foul Bay and Cadboro Bay Roads.)

This week, Bell will be at it again. As part of Art in Bloom, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s botanical art celebration, Bell is weaving something special. Gallery publicist Sandra Hudson said Bell’s secret creation will be in place at the corner of Oak Bay Avenue and Foul Bay Road by today, (March 16).

Also, watch for guerilla flower art installations created by two “rogue” designers at various locations this week, including Oak Bay. For more information about Art in Bloom, go to www.aggv.ca or call 250-384-4171.
