The Oak Bay News welcomed the community to Oak Bay United Church Thursday for its second annual reader appreciation tea.
Guests were treated to a wide array of tasty tea sandwiches and treats prepared by volunteers from the church, beautifully served with the church’s fine silverware and china.
“Our annual tea is our opportunity to say thank you to our Oak Bay News readers – from those who have been with us for decades to those new to the district and their community newspaper,” says News publisher Janet Gairdner.
“We were thrilled to once again partner with Oak Bay United Church, whose staff and volunteers created a fantastic array of treats and tea for everyone.”
Pouring tea for the afternoon were Oak Bay Mayor Nils Jensen, Coun. Tom Croft, Tara Ney and Hazel Braithwaite and Oak Bay firefighters Kyle Beaumont and Trent Frenkel.
The afternoon tea was also an opportunity to raise more than $200 and awareness for the Oak Bay Fire Fighters Charitable Foundation, which contributes to numerous projects both here in Oak Bay and at the regional level.
