Four decades of caring for and educating children earned St. Christopher’s Montessori School some recognition on Friday.
Oak Bay-Gordon Head MLA Andrew Weaver presented the school with a 2018 Child Care Legacy Award, which recognizes the contributions of licensed child care facilities with more than 40 years of service to B.C. children and their families.

St. Christopher’s Montessori School is one of 18 licensed child care facilities in B.C. receiving the Child Care Legacy Award.
The legacy awards are issued alongside the Child Care Awards of Excellence that recognize contributions of early childhood educators, licensed child care providers, non-profit and private organizations, businesses and local governments. After an open call for nominations and a review by an external selection committee, this year 10 recipients, including organizations and individual child care providers in British Columbia, received Child Care Awards of Excellence in five categories: provincial, Indigenous, innovation, partnerships and leadership.
This year’s award recipients were nominated by peers, parents and local governments. The ministry received 66 nominations.
