Among the many partners celebrating two decades of Ottavio in Oak Bay Saturday, was the 1UP Victoria Single Parent Resource Centre.

Andrew Moyer and Monica Pozzolo are famed for their traditional parties of food, music and fun that spills out into the street and Saturday was no exception.

Among those who spoke during the celebration, was Moyer himself, who thanked customers and staff, many well beyond a decade employed at the Oak Bay foodstore.

While visitors munched gelato mini cones and fancy cheese and meat, he mentioned gratitude for the longtime arrangement with the Single Parent Resource Centre.

“We’ve had a great partnership with them. We save our bread and products that we don’t sell every day and they put them in the bread closet in the centre on Gorge Road,” Moyer said. “We’ve been able to give them 23,000 loaves of bread in 13 years.”

The resource centre helps connect families with counselling, support skills and community alongside the bread pantry.

Moyer was thankful for all who attended the free event.

“It’s not easy these days and without you guys coming out here and being kind to our staff, and making interesting requests and keeping us on our toes when we do something that’s not quite right we wouldn’t be doing the job that we’re doing today.”
