Oak Bay named most sportsmanlike at BC girls basketball championships

A three-point loss to eventual provincial championships took the heat off Oak Bay’s provincial run on Day Two of competition.

Oak Bay defeated Mt. Baker 73-36 to kick off competition last Wednesday then suffered the tight 81-78 loss to Lord Tweedsmuir on Thursdsay, bumping them from podium contention. Lord Tweedsmuir beat Abbotsford in the final to earn top spot in BC.  The Brookswood Bobcats finished third.

The Breakers beat Walnut Grove 66-82 Friday then wrapped provincial play with a sound 67-42 win over Kelowna to finish fifth in B.C.

Oak Bay’s team was named most sportsmanlike for the competition.

The Breakers were named most sportsmanlike team for the  Girls AAA provincial championships. Georgia Alexander was named second team all star and Sophie de Goode earned the Quinn Keast Foundation Scholarship.
