The Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club offers free bowling to guests every Friday night on the Carnarvon greens.

Those 12 and older are welcome each Friday evening from May through September to experience the game of lawn bowling.

“It’s an excellent opportunity to try lawn bowling without cost or obligation,” says Eric Ballinger.

Orientation starts at 6 p.m. with bowling at 6:30. Please wear flat-soled shoes to protect our greens.

The Burgers and Bowls club tournament June 18 featured 48 bowlers in teams of three, playing three games in total. Winners were Al Neumair, Matthew Stow and Peter Woods with second place going to Barbara Weaver-Bosson, Ronnie Stinson and Erik Ewen. Mel Jones, Fern Price and Eric Fraikin finished third.

While the deadline to enter has passed, catch some action this weekend with the Canada Day event with fun beginning at 11:45 a.m.

The event is the club’s annual fundraiser for the Child Amputee Program (CHAMP) that offers comprehensive services to child amputees and their families, including financial assistance and peer support. CHAMP serves children in Canada who are born missing a limb or have lost a limb due to an accident or medical causes.
