Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club is gearing up for its Sage Green Experienced-Novice tournament.

Play partners an experienced player with a newbie in a three random 10-end games.

Aug. 1 is the deadline for the Aug. 5 tournament. Visit bowlsoakbay.ca to register.

Rod Armitage and Gerry Emery finished first in the The McEwan Men’s Pairs held July 18 at Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club. Mitch Fumalle and Ian Capon were second with Eric Ballinger and Matthew Stow third.

In the Novice Men’s and Women’s Competition July 19 and 20 Edward Loundsbury finished first for the men. Second went to Mitch O’Brien and Paul Langdon third. On the women’s side, Ellen Langdon finished first, Dale Mosher second and Christine Shepherd third.

In the Bowls South Island (BSI) competition held at the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club on June 27 and 28. The competition is known as the Silver Tray Women’s Scotch Pairs and attracted 24 teams from various South Island lawn bowling clubs. The term “Scotch Pairs” means that players switch in the Lead and Skip position half way through each game.

Winners were Joan Firkins, Donna Blackstock of the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club in first.

Kay Alexander and Bobbi Charlton also of the Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club were second. Third went to Kate Kajewski and Jennifer Gunn of the Juan de Fuca Lawn Bowling Club.
