A couple of Oak Bay High basketball teams compete for Island championships this week or next.
Oak Bay High senior girls basketball team hits the hardwood tonight to start Island playoffs at Claremont. They face Spectrum at 7:30 p.m.
The top two teams qualify for the girls AAA provincials at Langley Events Centre from Feb. 28 to March 3.
Junior boys do battle for the Island title Feb. 15 to 17 in Shawinigan. Oak Bay faces Ladysmith at 3:30 p.m. today to kick off the draw.
The senior boys are mired in the lower Island playoffs battling for the city title tonight at Mount Doug Secondary. All the teams qualify for Islands Feb 22 and 23 at Cowichan Secondary.
