Lawn bowlers host open house

The Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club is preparing to hit the greens for the 2015 season

The Oak Bay Lawn Bowling Club is preparing to hit the greens for the 2015 season, but before the season gets underway May 2, members welcome the community for an open house Sunday, April 19.

Newcomers are invited to visit the club at Carnarvon Park from

1 to 3 p.m. and discover why more than 200 members enjoy the camaraderie and competition of lawn bowling, not to mention the many other year-round activities.

Thrilled to share what is described as “a sport for life,” the club welcomes people of all ages and backgrounds.

Coffee, tea and treats will be served; the only request of visitors is that they wear flat-soled shoes to protect the greens.

A second summer open house will be announced later for July.

The club’s official 2015 opening day is May 2 at 1 p.m.
