What's happening in Oak Bay sports action this week

Rugby returns to Windsor Park this weekend as the University of Victoria Norsemen take on the Castaway Wanderers 2 in Men’s Premier Reserve play. Kick-off is at 12:45 p.m. Saturday, March 4.

Premier play follows, with Castaway Wanderers host ing the Vikes senior squad at 2:30 p.m.

High school rugby exhibition play also kicks off this week with Oak Bay A at Claremont, Oak Bay B hosting Spectrum and St Michaels University School visiting Glenlyon Norfolk. All games begin at 3:45 p.m. play Tuesday, March 7.

On Thursday, March 9, it’s an all-Oak Bay exhibition game, with the A team playing the B team, SMUS hosting Esquimalt and  GNA at Esquimalt.

Squash fans will want to head to UVic’s CARSA performance  gym for the B.C. University Squash Championships, running today, Friday, March 3 to Sunday, March 5 at CARSA.

Also at CARSA, UVic hosts the Cheer Showcase on Sunday, March 5 at 4 p.m. at CARSA.

The Vikes rowing teams are also in action this weekend, competing in the Elk Lake Spring Regatta Saturday, March 4 and Sunday, March 5. Come out and support the UVic Rowers.

Women’s soccer playoffs continue with Castaways Highlanders facing Prospect Lake in the quest for the Terry Price Cup Saturday, March 4. Play begins at 6 p.m. at PISE.

The Doug Day Cup has the Div. 1 Castaways FC facing Bays United Div. 1 tonight, Friday, March 3 at 7 p.m. at while Sunday, March 5 has the Castaways FC Div 2 hosting Juan de Fuca FC Div. 1 for a 2:15 p.m start at Carnarvon.

For Oak Bay lacrosse fans, the Victoria Shamrocks announce a women’s box lacrosse day camp on Saturday, March 18 at Eagle Ridge arena from 4 to 8 p.m. Heighten your skills, have fun and scrimmage with Victoria Shamrocks coaches and players. The camp is limited to women of all skills, ages 15 and older.
