Jock Talk: Rugby action fills Windsor Saturday

After a few weeks of out-of-town action, rugby returns in a big way to Windsor Park this weekend.

The Castaway Wanderers’ men’s premier team welcomes the UBC Old Boys Ravens on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 2:30 at Windsor Park.

For a full day of action, head to the park at 11:15 a.m. when the men’s Div. 1 Castaway Wanderers take on Cowichan, followed by the men’s Premier Reserve Team, also playing the UBC Ravens at 12:45 p.m.

While the Vikes Basketball teams have a weekend off, the men’s and women’s swim teams make a splash as Commonwealth Pool hosts the Canada West Championship Friday, Nov. 24 to Sunday, Nov. 26.

In Oak Bay soccer, the Div. 1 Bays United men start the weekend by taking on Westcastle United at 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24 at the Oak Bay High turf.

On Saturday, Nov. 25, the Div. 3A Bays United team heads to the West Shore to face Juan de Fuca at 8 p.m., while the U21 Bays United men bring the action back home Sunday, Nov. 26 when Lakehill FC visits for a 2:15 p.m.kick-off at Oak Bay High. The Div. 4A Bays United FC and Saanich Fusion Spartans follow at 4:30 p.m.

In women’s play, the Div. 1 Bays United FC takes on the Gorge FC on Sunday, Nov. 26 at 12 p.m. at Hampton Turf, while the Div. 2 Castaways FC takes on Fernwood City at 6 p.m. at PISE.

After heading over the Malahat to take on the Kerry Park Islanders Saturday, Nov. 25, the Victoria Cougars return to the ice Tuesday, Nov. 28 to face the Peninsula Panthers at 7:30 p.m. at Panorama Rec Centre. The Coug’s are finally back on home ice Thursday, Nov. 30 when they welcome the Nanaimo Buccaneers at 7 p.m. at Archie Browning Arena.
