As high school fall sports wrap up, the senior boys volleyball playoffs continue Friday, Nov. 10 with the AA Lower Island Champion team hosting the AAA Lower Island Champion team in the Judy Bourne Cup game. Nov. 17 and 18 has the AA Islands at St. Michaels University School or Pacific Christian School while the AAA Islands will take place at Oak Bay. For the first time since 2007, the best cross country athletes in university sports are in town Sunday, Nov. 12 to compete in the 2017 National Championship. Ranked in the Top 10 all season, the University of Victoria’s cross country Vikes aim to capture the title on home soil. Cheer on the local runners when the women get under way at 1 p.m. at Beacon Hill Park, followed by the men at 2 p.m. Join the fun with a Kid Fun Run in partnership with Golf for Kids at 2:45 p.m. Find a map and more information at onlineacademiccommunity.uvic.ca/livethelegacy/2017-usports-xc/.

Head to the pool to cheer Vikes swimmers when they host the Island Cup Invitational today, (Friday, Nov. 10) through Sunday at Commonwealth Place.

The UVic Vikes women’s soccer team punched a ticket to this weekend’s U SPORTS National Championships in Manitoba with last Sunday’s second-place finish at the Canada West Final Four. Now just three games stand between the team and a spot in the history books. The quarter-finals opened yesterday (Thursday, Nov. 9) against Cape Breton and play continues through Sunday. While the Vikes basketball teams are on the road this weekend to Langley, the men and women return to the CARSA gym Friday, Nov. 17 with plenty of basketball action. Both teams welcome Saskatchewan, with the women opening play at 6 p.m. Nov. 17, before the men follow at 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18 has the women take the floor at 5 p.m. followed by the men at 7 p.m.

Oak Bay men’s soccer opens for the weekend tonight (Friday, Nov. 10 ) as the MC Bays United FC take on Prospect Lake at 6 p.m. at Layritz. Bringing play back home, the U21 Bays United FC hosts Prospect Lake on Sunday, Nov. 12 at Oak Bay High. Come cheer on the local men when they hit the field at 2:15 p.m.

In women’s soccer the Div. 1 Bays United FC kicks off the weekend against the Lakehill Reds tonight (Friday, Nov. 10) at 6 p.m. at Braefoot. Continuing Div.1 play, Castaways FC takes on Prospect Lake at 6 p.m,, Saturday, Nov. 11, on the PISE pitch. Sunday, Nov. 12 has the Div. 3 Bays United FC offering fans a local tilt, welcoming the Lakehill Reds to Oak Bay High for a noon kick-off.
