Oak Bay gymnast Ava Stewart earned the nod for the Best Choreography award

Oak Bay gymnast Ava Stewart earned the nod for the Best Choreography award for her floor routine at the Pajama Party Invitational meet in Comox.

Victoria-area athletes from Falcon Gymnastics vaulted to an exceptional weekend of competition to wrap up Canadian Gymnastics Week Feb. 14 and 15, with 14 athletes ranging from Junior Olympic levels 3 to 6 competing for gold.

Madison Chase earned a gold medal on vault in the Junior Olympic 3 Group 1, while Chantelle Turlock received a bronze medal for her floor routine. In Junior Olympic 3 Group 2, Soleia Ouldali earned a silver medal in both the vault and floor events. Ella Kenddler received silver for her efforts on the bars and a bronze for vault.

In the Junior Olympic 6, 12 and under, Karley Telford struck gold on the bars.

For the Junior Olympic 6 athletes, 13 and over, Abby Stamper took home first all around, which included a gold for the floor, a silver for vault and a bronze for bars. Josée Simard earned bronze for vault, silver for beam and bronze in all around. In addition, Leonie Solomons took home the gold for bars.

Next up for the Falcon Gymnastics Competitive Team is the Mt. Arrowsmith Invitational in Port Alberni, Feb. 28 to March 1, a qualifier for the B.C. championships.
