The Castaway Wanderers prevailed in less than ideal conditions as cold, hard rain came down for Sunday’s Vancouver Island U15 boys rugby final against Velox Rugby Club at Windsor Park.
CW won 30-7 and finished the fall season undefeated.
“It was difficult dealing with the conditions for both sides,” said Kevin Hall, one of the CW coaches.
Defence ruled the first half of the game, with CW taking an 8-7 lead into the break. The second half turned to CW’s favour as Velox was unable to match the pressure, and CW scored four unanswered tries.
