LETTER: Public safety a key concern in Oak Bay election

This upcoming municipal election has the potential to be a watershed moment for municipal politics in Oak Bay. I encourage all those voters who are not yet committed to anyone candidate to think about all those issues that the current mayor and council have not shown any willingness to resolve and vote for those candidates that may be more willing to address these long standing issues.

For me, the burning issue is one of public safety. More specifically, it is the volume and speed of traffic on McNeill Avenue between Foul Bay Road and Victoria Avenue. There have been petitions, letters to mayor and council, meetings with the mayor, and letters to the editor all on deaf ears. The residents of McNeill Avenue, like all Oak Bay residents, deserve to be heard – it is time for action.

Please vote wisely on Oct. 20.
