Letter: Owners responsible for dogs’ behaviour

The common denominator in all the reported deer/human confrontations is dogs

It is evident the common denominator in all the reported deer/human confrontations is dogs.

To live in harmony with wildlife, people need to be more in control of their dogs, too. A doe with fawns will naturally want to protect her offspring just like we humans want to protect our children.

Reports of people allowing their dogs off leash to chase deer is criminal. Allowing dogs to bark and intimidate is harassment.

Dog owners must take responsibility for their dogs’ behaviour to reduce future conflict.
