I am fed up with the Oak Bay News and its ridiculous attempt to sway the public with its virtue towards the deer. Promoting an online contest to name the baby fawns is the last straw.
We name our pets because they are part of our family. We don’t name fawns that will eventually demolish our family’s hard work. The reality of feral deer in terms of community health and safety is simply abominable.
Spending funds tracking deer is just plain silly. Building higher and higher fences to protect pets, children and our gardens is ridiculous. A significant inexpensive cull is necessary. Bring on the election and let candidates define their position on deer. It is time for adults to end this childish Disneyland absurdity. Name the fawns Lunch and Dinner and please feed the homeless.
