We have a wonderful opportunity to welcome a Syrian family to our community by making the municipally owned house on Hampshire Road available for rent for a period of two years.
Members of the newly formed group, Friends of Hampshire House, will undertake fundraising for minor renovations of the currently empty house, and the private organization sponsoring the family will provide financial and other support for their resettlement here.
Canada has benefited immensely from welcoming immigrants from all over the world and Oak Bay is in a position to assist a refugee family by offering much needed transitional housing.
