Re: Refugee influx part of region’s housing problem (Letters, Oak Bay News, July 6)
I was saddened to read the Letter to the Editor titled “Refugee Influx Part of Region’s Housing Problem” in the July 6, 2018 OB News edition. The message was troubling, if not also inaccurate. Our region and communities are stronger and more vibrant because of our cultural diversity and because of distinctive and valuable contributions individuals and families from other parts of the world share with us. Our responsibility as a community is to welcome newcomers and provide them with a sense of belonging, one that bridges differences and forges lasting friendships.
