Hotel has got that old feeling

At least once a week I take the shoreline from Oak Bay to downtown so I can watch the striptease in slow motion.

It all started months ago when they raised the skirts of the Oak Bay Beach Hotel to show the rockwork into the parkade level. Since then they have been tantalising us with another veil off her shoulder or another flutter of an eyelid over a balcony door.

It has made me look forward to “snuggling” once again because to me the lounge was never just a noun, it was a thing to do.

Heritage should be about bringing back a feeling and not just an inanimate old piece of brick, and from what I have seen so far, it seems like the owners of the hotel, the Walker family, know how to do that.
