Home demolition process needs addressing

Actions of Oak Bay property owner questionable, reader writes

Re: The perils of home construction (News, Jan. 18)

I am very pleased that the Oak Bay News is paying attention to the critical and growing issue of questionable demolitions.

I find it hard to believe that a demolition company can legally demolish by chainsaw the fence of a neighbour at 7 a.m. without prior notice, and in the process essentially destroying the usability of the neighbours’ backyards.

These actions may be entirely legal. If so, the bylaws need upgrading – and quickly.

Thanks again for covering this important issue.
