Differing viewpoint on meeting makeup

I was disappointed by the reporting of last Tuesday’s town hall meeting at the Monterey Centre.

Reporter Vivian Moreau portrayed the opinion in the room as an “even divide” over the issue of secondary suites. I was at the meeting and can report that the most frequently expressed message by those that spoke (my estimate would be 80 per cent) was that our current suite situation is working well – there are suites available for renters and these suites are being effectively monitored by neighbours.

Although the majority of attendees appeared to strongly support leaving the situation as it is, the quotes were focused on the less popular (although more sensational) position of legalizing suites. Readers would have benefitted from a more accurate presentation of the meeting.
