Cadboro Bay Road is the only major route to downtown Victoria from Ten Mile Point, Cadboro Bay and Oak Bay and consequently has become very busy, especially at rush hour.
Along with this major increase in vehicle traffic speed has also increased.
I understand there have been many complaints about traffic speeding and there are also demands for the speed limit to be reduced.
Reducing the speed limit is good providing the speeds are controlled, something that the police department is loathe to do.
When schools reopen next month the traffic will increase along with the speeds.
I urge the mayor and council members as well as the police force to spend some time monitoring traffic, especially in the morning along Cadboro Bay Road below Lansdowne Road to get a glimpse of the situation.
We don’t want that road to become another Pat Bay Highway.
