Don Denton’s column asking the question of where has that Britishness gone should be required reading for all local tourism organizations.
There is no doubt that Victoria has lost its way as far as attracting tourists to the area and each member should have to answer the question, why? If their answer is the recession, it is not a good enough answer, as tourism numbers have been going down for several years.
Denton’s piece has many of the answers and it is high time the powers that be and the Downtown Victoria Business Association take back the identity, so easily given away, of Victoria as a little piece of old England, so that tourists will once again feel they are not dropping in on just another bit of North America.
