November 22, 2008

LEES, Dora Jane (nee Gill)

Dec. 25, 1909 - Nov. 22, 2008

The family of Dora Jane Lees is sad to announce her passing on November 22, 2008, after a brief illness at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver. Dora was born in Airdrie, Scotland, on December 25, 1909, and emigrated to Canada with her beloved husband John and children Ron and Irene in 1949. She lived in Vancouver, Galiano Island and Victoria where she was an enthusiastic member of the Monterey Centre for nearly 30 years and well known both at the dart board and on the dance floor. She was predeceased by John in 1991, and is survived by Ron (Li-Hong) and Irene (Ron), grand-daughters Elaine (Waheed)), Irene (Jeffrey) and Miranda, grandsons Tom (Heather), Lee and Yihao, great granddaughters Zara, Jade and Catie, and great grandsons Zachary and Kyle. Dora was a small, quiet and cheerful Scottish lady who touched all our lives with her grace and inner strength. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.

At her request, Dora was privately cremated, through First Memorial Funeral Services in North Vancouver.
